[Original form] Perennial, sometimes biennial or annual herb, 10-30cm high. Clustered or solitary, with short soft hairs. Simple leaves are opposite, the leaves at the base of the stem are nearly spoon-shaped or obovate, gradually narrowed at the base; the leaves in the middle and upper parts are nearly sessile, narrowly ovate to lanceolate, 1-3cm long, 3-10mm wide, with short soft hairs on both sides and dense hairs on the edges. Inflorescence is a dichotomous cyme, terminal; pedicels densely covered with glandular hairs, 3-4 times as long as sepals, bracts and bracteoles usually leaf-like; sepals 5, lanceolate, densely glandular hairs on the back; petals 5, white, obovate-oblong, slightly shorter than sepals, 2-lobed at apex, glabrous or with eyelashes at base; stamens 10; receptacle 5. Capsule twice as long as persistent sepals. The seeds are brown with tubercles. The flowering period is May-June, and the fruiting period is July-August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on the edge of mountain forests, fields or roadsides below 4000m above sea level.

[Pharmacological action] Pharmacological experiments showed that the decoction had a significant antihypertensive effect on anesthetized cats and rabbits when administered intraperitoneally or intraduodenally. In chronic experiments on normal rabbits, the antihypertensive effect of 6g/kg oral administration was greater than that of 5mg/kg reserpine.
