When you go to the park, you will often see small grasses and flowers growing under the big trees. The most common type has heart-shaped or kidney-shaped leaves, which look very much like ancient copper coins, with small blue-purple flowers and dark spots. They are densely packed throughout the entire park, and it is unclear whether they grow on their own or are artificially cultivated. But in fact, this little grass is called Huoxuedan. Yes, you read that right, a single plant is called "Dan". It has many aliases, such as ground money, lianqiancao, peony root, peony root, mint, wall-penetrating grass, wind grass, etc. It likes light, has strong vitality, strong self-reproduction ability, does not need pruning, and its formation relies more on nature. Huoxuedan is a traditional Chinese medicine that tastes bitter, pungent, and cool in nature. It enters the liver, gallbladder, and bladder meridians. It has the effects of promoting dampness and relieving stranguria; clearing away heat and detoxifying; and dispersing blood stasis and relieving swelling. It is mainly used to treat stranguria caused by heat and stones, jaundice caused by damp heat, swelling and pain of sores and carbuncles, colds and coughs, malnutrition in children, toothache, arthralgia and injuries from falls. The name "Huoxuedan" is not for nothing. It is very effective in treating some external injuries and bruises. "Bencao Qiuyuan" records: "It can dispel rheumatism, stop bone pain, soak in wine, relax muscles and tendons, stop tumbles and sprains, and it is more effective when the juice is mixed with wine." This not only records the effect of Huoxue Dan in treating trauma, but also explains the usage of Huoxue Dan. It can generally be decocted in water, or soaked in wine, or the juice can be directly taken to mix with wine. Therefore, it can be used externally or internally. The modern summary of its usage is for internal use: decocting in water, 15-30g; or soaking in wine, or mashing into juice. For external use: take appropriate amount, mash and apply or squeeze the juice for application. In fact, in the early days when medicine was not as developed as it is now, if you were injured in the wild, you could generally find some Chinese medicine that could be used. Although you don’t have to collect herbs to treat illnesses yourself now, I still hope that everyone can learn more about Chinese medicine. |
