[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of wild carrot, a plant of the Umbelliferae family.

[Original form] Biennial herb, 20-120cm tall. The whole plant is covered with white coarse hairs. The root is slender conical, fleshy, yellowish white. Basal leaves are membranous, oblong, two to three times pinnately divided, the final segments are linear or lanceolate, 2-15mm long, 0.5-4mm wide, pointed at the apex, with a small tip, smooth or with rough stiff hairs; petiole is 3-12cm long; stem leaves are nearly sessile, with leaf sheaths, and the final segments are small and slender. The compound umbel is terminal, with a peduncle 10-55cm long and with rough stiff hairs; the bracts are numerous, leaf-like, pinnate-divided, with linear lobes 3-30mm long; the rays are numerous, and the rays on the outer edge bend inwards when fruiting; the bracteoles are 5-7, linear, undivided or 2-3-lobed, with membranous margins and ciliates; the flowers are usually white, sometimes with a pinkish tint. The double-hanging fruit is oblong, 3-4mm long, 2mm wide, ribbed, with wings on the ribs, and short hooked spines or white prickles on the ribs. The flowering period is from May to July, and the fruiting period is from June to August.
