[Original form] Large-leafed fire orchid, a terrestrial plant, up to 1m tall. The rhizome is short and thick with several long roots. The stem is erect, with 2-4 sheaths at the bottom. There are 5-7 leaves, which are ovate to elliptical. The leaves on the upper part of the stem are often ovate-lanceolate, gradually transitioning into bracts. The raceme has more than 10-20 flowers, and the inflorescence axis is rusty and pubescent; the bracts are leaf-like, ovate-lanceolate or ovate, shorter than or almost as long as the flowers; the flowers are purple-brown or yellow-brown, drooping, and can reach 2cm in diameter; the middle sepals are nearly elliptic, 12-15mm long, sparsely covered with short soft hairs on the back, the lateral sepals and the middle sepals are almost equal in length but slightly wider, and covered with hairs on the back; the petals are ovate and shorter than the sepals; the lip is almost the same length as the sepals, nearly elliptic at the back, sunken in the center, with 2-3 cockscomb-shaped folds, and the lateral lobes and the apex are obtuse; the front is slightly thickened, the middle part is constricted to a more or less gourd-shaped shape, and the apex is obtuse; the column including the anthers is 8-10mm long; the ovary is rod-shaped, 12-15mm long, and covered with hairs.
