[Original form] Stone butterfly is a stemless perennial grass. The rhizome is short and thick, with dense fibrous roots growing downwards. Leaves are basal, 15-40; inner leaves are short-stalked or sessile, outer leaves are petiolate, up to 4 cm long, densely covered with soft hairs in the shape of a swallowtail; leaf blades are elliptic-whip-shaped, elliptic or nearly round, 1-2.5 cm long, 8-15 mm wide, slightly pointed at the apex, broadly cuneate or cuneate, elliptic at the base, entire or with inconspicuous wavy crenulate teeth, green above, light green below, densely covered with spreading soft hairs on both sides. 1-5 flowers, 1 (-2) flowers per inflorescence; peduncle 3.5-7.5cm long, pubescent; bracts narrowly linear, about 3mm long, densely pubescent; calyx 5-lobed to base, lobes linear-lanceolate, pubescent outside; corolla purple, pubescent outside, short tube 2.5-3.5cm long, corolla bilipped, upper lip ovate-triangular, apex slightly cracked or nearly entire, lower lip 3-lobed, lobes nearly equal in size, apex rounded; 2 fertile stamens, filaments broadly velvety, densely brown short hairs, anthers about 5mm long, 2 staminodes; ovary densely appressed short hairs, style about 7mm long, usually with short appressed hairs at base, stigma small, dot-shaped. The capsule is oblong, up to 10mm long, covered with short soft hairs, and has 2 lobes. The seeds are small, oval and smooth. The flowering period is August-September, and the fruiting period is October-November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in rocky mountain forests or on rocks near forests at an altitude of 1100-1800m.
