[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the Lauraceae plant Cinnamomum camphora.

[Original form] Sichuan and Hubei new camphor is a shrub or small tree, 2-7m high. Branches brown, cylindrical. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 0.6-1.1cm long; leaf blade is nearly leathery, broadly ovate or ovate-round, 4.5-9.7cm long, 2.4-7.3cm wide, gradually pointed at apex, broadly cuneate or nearly truncated at base, with entire margin, green above, light green below, and three veins. Cymes axillary, with or without peduncle; flowers bisexual, small, with long pedicels; perianth lobes 6, nearly equal, thick, slightly fleshy, without perianth tube; 9 developed stamens, stamens in the 1st and 2nd whorls without glands, those in the 3rd whorl with two glands at the base, anthers 4-loculed, arranged in 1 row horizontally, 2 locules of stamens in the 1st and 2nd whorls with inner locules and 2 locules laterally exotropic; 2 locules of stamens in the 3rd whorl with outer locules and 2 locules laterally exotropic; 3 staminodes; ovary superior, gourd-shaped, sessile, 1-loculed, with 1 ovule, very short or absent style, tiny stigma. The fruit is berry-like, with persistent perianth lobes and the upper end of the pedicel gradually enlarged into a funnel shape when fruiting. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from September to November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on the edge of rocks, under forests, and in grass.

【Functions and indications】Promoting qi circulation; warming the middle; relieving pain. It is used to treat chest and abdominal distension and pain caused by qi stagnation and cold stagnation; hernia; dysmenorrhea
