[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Onagraceae.

[Original form] Erect herb, 5-35cm high. The rhizome is slender, white, up to 30 cm long, with the tip swollen into a tuber; the stem is green, turns red during the fruiting period, and is densely covered with sickle-shaped soft hairs. Leaves are opposite; petiole is about 2.5cm long; leaf blade is elliptical, ovate to rhombic, about 5.5cm long, about 3cm in diameter, gradually pointed, base cuneate to rounded, margin sparsely serrated. The raceme gradually elongates before or during flowering, so the flowers are farther apart, the pedicel is 1.5-3.5mm long, usually red, drooping in fruit, the buds are glabrous, white or red; the corolla tube is 0.2-0.3mm long, usually red, drooping in fruit, the buds are glabrous, broken or red, light pink; the petals are narrow or wide obovate, white or pink, with 1/5-1/3 concave at the tip, the lobes are rounded or with fine round teeth, opening to one side; the filaments are 0.9-1.8mm long; the ovary is rod-shaped or obovate, covered with purple hooked hairs, and the style is 1.3-2.3mm long. The mature fruit is obovate or rod-shaped, red, and covered with red transparent hooked hairs. Flowering period is September-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in the dead branches and leaves layer under pine forests, oak forests, mixed wood forests or bamboo forests at an altitude of 1850-3000m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; removes blood stasis and stops bleeding. Mainly used for furuncle, nameless swelling, bleeding from knife wounds, scabies

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 6-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
