[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of the plant Pteris crenata of the Venus fern family.

【Original morphology】Plant height 30-60cm. The rhizome is short and erect, covered with dark brown, ciliate, narrow lanceolate scales. The petiole is 10-20cm long, straw-colored, sparsely covered with small scales at the base, which are more sparse upwards; the leaf blade is herbaceous, narrowly lanceolate or elliptic-narrowly lanceolate, 20-40cm long, 6-10cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex and pinnate-lobed, gradually narrowing at the bottom, pinnate-lobed once or twice; there are about 30 pairs of pinnae, alternate, obliquely upward, narrowly lanceolate, the largest in the middle, 3-5cm long, about 1cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, connected to each other along the rachis with ear-shaped or obtuse triangular wings downwards, the pinnae are 1/3-1/2 deep, the lower pairs gradually shorten, and the base pair is often shrunk into ear-shaped, 7-10mm long; the lobes are ovate-triangular, obtuse at the apex, and entire; both sides are sparsely covered with needle-shaped and forked hairs or stellate hairs along the rachis, rachis and midrib; the veins are pinnate, and the veinlets are single, extending to the leaf margins. Sori nearly orbicular, borne dorsally on veinlets near apex; sori cap absent.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in low mountains at an altitude of 100-1800m, on both sides of forest edge river valleys or on roadsides.

【Functions and indications】Diuresis and swelling reduction; detoxification and sore healing. Mainly used for edema; ascites; sores that do not heal for a long time; bleeding due to trauma
