[Original form] Large-flowered Nepeta, a perennial herb about 40cm tall. Rhizome woody, creeping. Stems numerous, often branched at the lower part, quadrangular, often purplish red at the lower part, pubescent and mixed with small glandular dots. Leaves are opposite; petiole at the lower part of the stem is 1.5-1.7cm long, petiole at the middle part is 3-7mm long; leaf blade is triangular-oblong to triangular-lanceolate, 3.4-9cm long, 1.2-2.2cm wide, with acute tip, nearly cuneate base, often shallowly cordate, sparsely pubescent above, densely covered with yellow glandular dots below, and margins usually densely dentate. The cymes are sparsely arranged at the top of the stem, 9-15cm long, with a 5-8mm peduncle; the bracts are leaf-like, becoming smaller upwards, and the upper ones are bract-like, lanceolate; the bracts are linear, covered with short soft hairs and eyelashes; the pedicels are densely covered with glandular dots; the calyx is up to 1cm long, covered with glandular short soft hairs and yellow glandular dots on the outside, the upper lip is 3-lobed, and the lower lip is 2-lobed to the base; the corolla is blue or lavender, 2-2.9cm long, the crown brim is two-lipped, the upper lip is 2-lobed, the lower lip is 3-lobed, and the middle lobe is kidney-shaped; there are 4 stamens, and the posterior stamens are slightly shorter than or slightly beyond the upper lip; the style is equal to or slightly beyond the upper lip. Small nuts. Flowering period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillside grasslands at an altitude of 1750-2650m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and improves eyesight; detoxifies. It is used to treat red, swollen and painful eyes, mouth ulcers and toothache.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: grind into powder, 2-3g each time; or decoct in water.
