【Other name】 Green cotton

[Source] Pileostegia viburnoides Hook . f. et Thoms., Saxifragaceae, with roots, vines and leaves used as medicine. It can be harvested throughout the year and used fresh or dried.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy, slightly bitter, warm.

【Functions and indications】 Expel wind and dampness, disperse blood stasis and relieve pain, and set bones. Used for sore waist and legs, rheumatism and numbness; used externally to treat bruises, fractures, and traumatic bleeding.

[Usage and Dosage] 0.5-1 liang, decocted in water or soaked in wine. For external use, mash the roots, stems, vines or leaves and apply to the affected area.

[Remarks] (1) Pileostegia tomentella Hand.-Mazz. is similar to the above species and is also used as green cotton vine in Jiangxi.
