[Source] It is the condensation of sap that flows out from the fleshy stem of the cactus , a plant of the Cactaceae family. From April to August, when the cactus is full of juice, choose a lush cactus tree, cut the skin to let the sap overflow, and collect it after it solidifies. Shape into balls and air-dry or sun-dry.

[Habitat distribution] Mainly produced in Sichuan.

[Properties] The condensate is round or irregular round lumps, hard and slightly moist, similar to raw rosin or peach gum, yellowish white or milky white in color, occasionally with brownish yellow, slightly transparent after breaking, often mixed with residue, and has no special smell. The texture becomes softer when roasted, but it is not easy to melt. The best ones are those that are solidified, dry, bright yellow in color, hard and brittle in texture, and free of soil.

【Functions and indications】 Treat palpitations, blood in stool, hemorrhoidal bleeding, sore throat, and carbuncle.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 1 to 3 qian; or made into pills or powder. For external use: mash and apply.

[Note] It is contraindicated for patients with yang deficiency, cold syndrome and chronic fright in children.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat carbuncle: Hibiscus scabra and dandelion pod. Decoction.
