[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Gesneria yunnanensis, a plant of the Gesneriaceae family.

[Original morphology] Yunnan long-capsule Gesneriaceae is a perennial herb, 15-35cm tall. Stems ascending or erect, unbranched, very short hairy. Leaves are opposite, in 2 pairs, usually clustered at the top of the stem; petiole 23-12cm long; leaf blade slightly oblique, ovate, 5-16.5cm long, 3-10.5cm wide, obtuse at apex, shallowly cordate at base, slightly oblique, with shallowly blunt teeth on the edge, green above, covered with short hairs, almost glabrous below, with 7-9 lateral veins on each side. The inflorescence is corymbose, with 1-3 lines growing in the upper leaf axils, up to 18cm long; the peduncle is 13cm long; the bracts are opposite, rounded-ovate, up to 1.6cm long, with small teeth on the edges; the calyx is campanulate, about 5mm long, sparsely covered with short hairs, 5 shallowly lobed, the lobes are triangular or ovate-triangular, about 1mm long, with hard tips at the apex; the corolla is purple-red, about 3cm long, sparsely covered with short soft hairs on the outside, glabrous on the inside, the corolla tube is thin, about 4mm wide at the base, and up to 8mm wide at the throat, the corolla is two-lipped, the upper lip is 2-lobed, the lower lip is 3-lobed, and the lobes are rounded-ovate; there are 2 stamens, the anthers are connected, and they are born on the upper part of the corolla tube, the filaments are flat, and there are 2 reduced stamens; the disc is cup-shaped, with round teeth; the ovary is linear, about 2cm long, the style is short, about 4mm long, and the stigma is capitate. The capsule is linear, 3-4.8cm long, with a short style of about 4mm and a capitate stigma. The capsule is linear, 3-4.8cm long and about 2mm wide. The flowering period is August, and the fruiting period is September-October.
