[Source] Medicinal material source: It is the root of Saussurea cordifolia of the Asteraceae family.

[Original form] Saussurea odorifera is a perennial herb, 70-100cm tall. Rhizome woody; aerial stems smooth. Basal leaves often wither during flowering; stem leaves are alternate, with petioles up to 15 cm long and base enlarged to embrace the stem; lower leaves are large, rounded, about 10-18 cm long and wide, gradually pointed at the apex, deeply cordate at the base, coarsely serrated at the edges, coarsely pubescent above, and glabrous below; upper leaves gradually become smaller, ovate, and sessile. Inflorescence head, 2.5cm in diameter, arranged in umbels; involucre broadly bell-shaped, 1.5-2.5cm long, bracts often reflexed at apex, with eyelashes on margins; pollen-shaped florets purple, 14-15mm long. The tips of the bracts are often reflexed, with eyelashes on the edges; the tubular pollen inflorescences are purple, 14-15mm long. The capsule is cylindrical, 14-15mm long, with white pappus, the outer layer is rough and easy to fall off, and the inner layer is feathery. Flowering and fruiting period is August-September.
