[Source] It is the seeds of the leguminous plant Ceropegia orientalis . Pick the ripe fruits between August and September, remove the seeds and dry them in the sun.

[Original form] Southern snake vine (Essentials of Raw Medicinal Herbs), also known as lotus seed vine, boa constrictor (Records of Herb Collection in Lingnan), beaked pod cloud fruit, stone lotus, southern snake velvet, scalded rake seedlings, sparrow does not stand, southern snake vine, stone lotus vine, flying dragon, green snake vine.

[Habitat distribution] It grows beside open streams in ravines, on roadsides or in bushes. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and other places. It is mainly produced in Yunnan and Guangxi. In addition, it is also produced in Guangdong, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Fujian and other places.

[Properties] The dry seeds are oval or oblong, with blunt ends, about 1.2-2.2 cm long and 0.7-1.2 cm in diameter. The outside is dark brown or dark brown, smooth, and some have fine annular transverse stripes or transverse cracks. There are remnants of a funicle at the base and a small circular chalazion next to it. It is hard and not easy to break. The seed coat is about 1 mm thick, and the inner surface is gray-yellow, smooth and shiny. After removing the seed coat, two brown, thick cotyledons can be seen, which are rich in oil, with a light brown plumule and radicle in the middle of the cotyledons. It has a faint smell and tastes extremely bitter. The best ones are dark brown with full grains.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 2 to 3 qian. For external use: decoct in water for washing or mash for application.
