[Properties] The stem of this product is square columnar, much branched, with longitudinal grooves on all four sides, 0.5 to 1m long; the surface is green-brown and rough; the texture is hard and brittle, with pith or hollow in cross section. The leaves are opposite, wrinkled, mostly broken, green-brown, and when intact, they are flattened and have three deep lobes with serrated edges. The inflorescence spike is slender with many small flowers. Odorless, bitter taste.

【Identification】 (1) The powder of this product is green-brown. The stem epidermal cells are long polygonal or quasi-rectangular, with straight pericytes and stomata. The antipodal walls of the lower epidermal cells of the leaves are wavy, the stomata are indefinite or unequal, and there are 3 to 5 accessory cells. The head of the glandular scale is 4-celled, with a diameter of 23 to 58 μm; the stalk is single-celled. Non-glandular trichomes are unicellular. Pollen grains are round or triangular in shape, 24 to 35 μm in diameter, with a smooth surface and three germination pores.

[Content Determination] Take about 1g of crude powder of this product [at the same time, take another crude powder of this product to determine the moisture content (Appendix Ⅸ H Method 1)], accurately weigh, place in a stoppered conical flask, accurately add 30ml of anhydrous ethanol, weigh, ultrasonically treat for 1.5 hours, cool, weigh again, make up the lost weight with anhydrous ethanol, shake well, filter, accurately measure 15ml of the filtrate, evaporate to dryness, soak the residue with petroleum ether (30-60℃) twice, 15ml each time (soak for about 2 minutes), pour off the petroleum ether, add appropriate amount of anhydrous ethanol to the residue and dissolve it by slight heat, transfer to a 5ml volumetric flask, and dilute to the scale, shake well, as the test solution. Accurately weigh ursolic acid reference substance and add anhydrous ethanol to prepare a solution containing 0.5 mg per 1 ml as the reference substance solution. According to the thin layer chromatography method (Appendix Ⅵ B) test, 2μl of the test solution, 1μl and 2μl of the reference solution were accurately pipetted and crossed onto the same silica gel G thin layer plate, and cyclohexane-chloroform-ethyl acetate-glacial acetic acid (20:5:8:0.1) was used as the developing agent. The plate was developed, taken out, air-dried, sprayed with 10% sulfuric acid ethanol solution, heated at 110°C until the spots were clearly colored, taken out, and covered with a glass plate of the same size on the thin layer plate, fixed with tape around it, and scanned according to the thin layer chromatography method (Appendix Ⅵ B Thin Layer Scanning Method), wavelength: λs=525nm, λR=700nm, measured the integral value of the absorbance of the test sample and the integral value of the absorbance of the reference, and calculated to obtain the result.

[Preparation] Remove the remaining roots and impurities, wash, moisten slightly, cut into sections, and dry in the sun.
