[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome or root of Iris tenuifolia, a plant of the Iridaceae family.

[Original form] Slender-leaved iris is a perennial dense herb, 10-35cm tall. There are reddish-brown or yellowish-brown broken old leaf sheaths remaining at the base of the plant. The rhizome is tuberous, short, hard, and dark brown. The roots are hard, slender and have few branches. Leaves are basal; leaf blades are thin and thread-like to filamentous, tough, 20-70cm long and 1.5-2cm wide; there is no obvious midrib. The flower stalk is 10-20cm long, with sheath-like reduced leaves; there are 4 bracts, lanceolate, 5-10cm long, with 2-3 flowers inside; the flowers are slender, 3-4mm long; the flowers are blue-purple, about 7cm in diameter, with 6 perianth lobes, 4.5-5.5cm long, and the perianth tube is slender; there are 3 male indigo plants; the ovary is inferior, the style is 3-branched, petal-shaped, and 2-lobed at the apex; the ovary is slender cylindrical, 0.7-1.2cm long, and about 2mm in diameter. The capsule is oval, 3.5-4.5cm long and 1.2-1.8cm in diameter; the seeds are dark brown. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is August-September.
