[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Achyranthes bidentata, a plant of the Lamiaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 6-20cm high. The stem is erect, unbranched, quadrangular, and densely covered with grayish-white woolly long hairs. Leaves are opposite; basal leaves are petiolate, petiole 0.7-2cm long, leaves on the upper part of the stem are sessile; leaf blades are elliptic-oblong or elliptic-ovate, 1.5-4cm long, 1-1.5cm wide, obtuse or slightly acute at the apex, cuneate-decurrent at the base, clasping the stem, densely covered with pubescent, sparsely covered with pubescent, rough hairs above, with inconspicuous wavy teeth on the margins. The cyme gradually approaches from the middle of the stem to the top, forming a spike-like cyme; the petals are leaf-like, smaller upwards, and lanceolate-ovate; the calyx is broadly bell-shaped, covered with cottony or long soft hairs on the outside; the calyx teeth are 5 and regular; the corolla is blue-purple or blue, with a hair ring near the base on the inner side, the rim is two-lipped, the upper lip is short, erect, and 2-lobed, the lower lip is elongated and wide, 3-lobed, the middle lobe is fan-shaped, and the side lobes are oblong; there are 4 stamens, didyna; the style exceeds the stamens, with 2 shallow lobes at the tip; the disk is annular. The nutlets are obovate-triangular, with reticular wrinkles on the back and a hilum on the abdomen, which accounts for 2/3 of the ventral length. Flowers bloom in April and May, and fruiting period is May and June.
