The efficacy and function of Coriolus mulberry leaves

Since Chinese medicine has fewer side effects, more and more people now want to use Chinese medicine to regulate their bodies. Here I would like to introduce to you a medicinal herb, Coriolus mulberry leaf, hoping it will be helpful to you.

[Source] It is the leaves of the Morus alba plant of the Morus alba family . Harvest from April to May.

[Original form] Mamulberry (Herbal Prescriptions), also known as: Buddleja sibiricum, fishtail grass, hibiscus, fish-noisy grass, toad tree, ladder to heaven, blue snake wind.

【Habitat distribution】 Growing on hillsides or ravines. Distributed in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Henan, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places.

[Toxicity] Accidental ingestion of Coriaria can cause poisoning of varying degrees. The initial symptoms include dizziness, headache, chest tightness, increased salivation, nausea and vomiting, itching, pain, burning sensation, abdominal pain, etc. within 0.5 to 3 hours after eating. Those with mild symptoms will gradually recover on their own, while those with severe symptoms will feel numbness all over the body, their heartbeat will slow down, their blood pressure will rise, their breathing will speed up, their reflexes will increase, and they will often suddenly scream, then faint, followed by convulsions. The convulsions are paroxysmal, occurring every few minutes to half an hour, lasting for 3 to 4 minutes before stopping, and the patient enters a coma with deep breathing. During the interval, the patient may be semi-conscious. If the patient becomes restless, it may be a sign of another seizure. Rescue methods: Induce vomiting, relieve spasms, prevent respiratory tract infections and replenish fluids. Phenobarbital can be used for convulsions. If it is ineffective, a small amount of ether (5-15 ml) can be inhaled. Caffeine can be used for slow heartbeat or collapse, but chloramine should be avoided. Morphine-type anesthetics should not be used in the process of poisoning rescue, and tinctures and other alcohol-containing medicines are prohibited. Except for those who are severely poisoned and die due to frequent convulsions leading to respiratory arrest, consciousness usually becomes clearer after the convulsions stop, and they can return to normal after 2 to 3 days or up to 1 to 2 weeks. In cases of convulsions, memory loss often occurs after recovery. Some people also experience unexplained laughing, dazeness, and speech disorders, and full recovery may take half a year.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, cold, poisonous.

【Functions and indications】 Treat carbuncle and swelling. Scabies, impetigo, burns.

[Usage and Dosage] For external use: mash and apply, decoct in water for washing, grind into powder and mix or mix for application.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat swelling and ulcer: wash with the decoction of Coriolus mulberry leaves. (Hunan Pharmacopoeia)

[Clinical Application] Treatment of schizophrenia: Take fresh Coriaria leaves or stems (stem diameter 1-2.5 cm, sliced), decoct twice in water, combine and concentrate into 100% decoction for oral administration. The dosage for one dose is approximately equivalent to 2-4 g/kg body weight of the raw medicine (if the Coriaria leaves are collected and left for too long, the efficacy will decrease and the dosage should be appropriately increased). During treatment, patients are concentrated in the treatment room and cared for by dedicated personnel. The drug was given on an empty stomach that morning, and the patient was then allowed to rest in bed. Generally, drug reactions may occur about 0.5 to 1 hour after administration: nausea, vomiting, sweating, muscle twitching, whole body spasms and other epileptic seizures. The drug reactions will gradually disappear after about 8 hours and the patient can be sent back to the ward for further observation. If epileptic seizures occur frequently and the intervals between seizures are shortened after taking the medicine, fast-acting anti-epileptic drugs (0.5 grams of amobarbital sodium or 10 mg of diazepam injection, both intramuscular and intravenous) can be given; if the reaction is not severe, no special treatment is required, but 0.1 grams of phenobarbital sodium should be injected intramuscularly at the end of the treatment on the same day to prevent epilepsy after leaving the treatment room. A total of 128 cases were treated (29 of which were combined with other therapies), with the results that 33 were cured (mental symptoms completely disappeared, self-awareness was restored, and they adapted well to the environment), 21 were significantly improved (the main mental symptoms basically disappeared, they had preliminary self-awareness, and they had good contact with the environment), 23 were improved (the main mental symptoms were alleviated, they could take care of themselves, but lacked self-awareness), and 61 were ineffective. The overall effective rate is approximately 60%, and the cure rate is 25.8%. Among them, the efficacy of using Coriaria officinalis decoction alone to treat 99 cases was: 18 cases were cured, 14 cases were significantly improved, 18 cases were improved, and 49 cases were ineffective. Among the effective cases, more than 80% showed effects within 7 days of treatment, and the fastest was only 1 to 2 days.
