Leaves are alternate; petioles are 12-15cm long and hairy; stipules are linear, about 14mm long, and fall off early; leaf blades are round or cordate, 14-24cm long, 13-21cm wide, obtuse or mucronate at the apex, cordate at the base, with fine serrations on the margins, and often 3-5 shallow lobes, both sides are covered with light yellow-brown stellate soft hairs and stiff hairs, especially on the underside, with 7 basal veins. The inflorescence is arranged in a corymbose form, axillary, with a few flowers; the pedicel is weak, about 2.5mm long; the sepals are 5, 3 long, hairy on the outside and glabrous on the inside; the petals are 5, sunken, 4-lobed, and the lobes are obtuse; the stamens with the medicine are 5, opposite to the petals, and the stamens are 5, fused below, about 1.5cm long; the ovary is spherical with nipple-like protrusions. The capsule is spherical, yellow with a slight red tint, densely covered with branched, cone-shaped soft thorns, about 2 cm in diameter and 4-6 mm long. The seeds are ovate, 5 mm long, yellow with brown spots.
