[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Coriander leaf cilantro of the Umbelliferae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 15-45cm high. The stem is erect or creeping, branched, and rooted at the nodes. Simple leaves are alternate; petioles are 3-20cm long; stipules are membranous and rounded; leaf blades are membranous to herbaceous, reniform, 1.5-3.5cm long, 2-7cm wide, with 5-7 lobes on the margin, base deeply cordate or slightly open at the bend, smooth on both sides or covered with very sparse short prickles on the veins on the back. The single umbels grow at the top of the branches or in the axils, and there are many of them, with the flowers densely packed into heads; the bracts are membranous with purple spots; the petals are ovate, white to light yellow. The double-hanging fruit is nearly round, 0.2-1.8cm long, 1.5-2.1mm wide, heart-shaped at the base, flattened on both sides, with a distinctly raised middle ridge. When ripe, it is purple-brown or yellow-brown with purple spots. Flowering and fruiting period is from May to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in shady and moist valleys, fields, ditches, and beside trees at an altitude of 350-1400 meters.

[Properties] Property identification: The plants are mostly twisted into balls, with slender, long and curved stems without hair. Simple leaves are alternate, mostly wrinkled, complete leaves are round and kidney-shaped, 1.5-6cm in diameter, with 5-7 lobes, deeply cordate base, slightly open or close, glabrous or sparsely hairy on both sides, petiole 2.5-19.5cm long, with short stiff hairs. Slight odor, light bitter taste.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; slightly cold

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; promotes the removal of dampness. It is used for red and white dysentery, jaundice, painful urination, sores, rhinitis, earache, and mouth sores.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 6-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application; or squeeze the juice and apply.
