[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of the rock persimmon of the Ebenaceae family.

[Original form] Small tree or tree, up to 14m tall, usually 5-6m. Many branches, twigs slender, densely gray-brown hairs, leaves alternate; petioles slender, 2-5mm long, densely yellow-brown hairs; leaf blades thin leathery, lanceolate, ovate-lanceolate or oblanceolate, 2-3.5 (-6) cm long, 1-1.3 (-2.5) cm wide, obtuse or acute at apex, with a short tip, cuneate, obtuse or rounded base, green above, light green below; midrib and lateral veins densely covered with yellow-brown hairs, 3-4 on each side of lateral veins. Male inflorescence solitary in the axils of branchlets, with 1-4 flowers; calyx bell-shaped, 4-parted, lobes ovate-triangular, densely covered with soft hairs on the outside; corolla white, pot-shaped, with white soft hairs only on the four ridges, lobes 4, ovate; 16 stamens, each 2 in pairs. The female flower is solitary, white, with a calyx about 5 mm long, pubescent, 4-lobed, lobes nearly ovate, acute at the apex, and bearded; the ovary and style are pubescent, with 4 styles and 2 shallow lobes on the stigma. The berries are oval in shape, about 1 cm in diameter, turning from yellow to red to purple-black when ripe, with a small tip at the tip. The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting period is from October to February of the following year.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in mountain thickets, valleys, mixed forests, riversides or limestone mountains at an altitude of 700-2700m.

【Nature and flavor】 slightly bitter; astringent; pungent; neutral

【Functions and indications】 Strengthens the spleen and stomach; relieves sore toxins. Mainly used for chronic diarrhea; good digestion in children; boils; burns

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-9g. For external use: take appropriate amount, boil fresh product in water for washing; grind into powder and apply on the affected area.
