[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb and spores of Lygodium microphyllum of the Lygodium family.

[Original morphology] The plant is creeping and climbing, with slender stems, up to 5-7m long. Leaves thin herbaceous, nearly dimorphic; bipinnate, with numerous pinnae, about 7-9cm apart, pinnae opposite on short branches of rachis, with dense reddish-brown hairs at the top of short branches; nutrient pinnae born at the lower part of rachis, oblong, 7-8cm long, 4-7cm wide, odd-pinnate, or terminal pinnae sometimes bifurcated; pinnules 4 pairs, alternate, with short petioles, petiole ends jointed; ovate-triangular or oblong, base cordate, margin serrated; venation ternate, veinlets bifurcated two to three times; spore pinnae oblong, 8-10cm long, 4-6cm wide, often odd-pinnate; pinnules 9-11 pieces, alternate, triangular or ovate-triangular, 1.5-3cm long, 1.5-2cm wide. Sporangium spikes are linear, yellowish brown, arranged at the leaf margin, with 5-8 pairs of sporangia.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in streamside thickets at an altitude of 110-150m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat; promotes the elimination of dampness; relaxes muscles and tendons; stops bleeding. Urinary tract infection; urinary tract stones; nephritis edema; hepatitis; dysentery; red and swollen eyes; rheumatic pain; numbness of tendons and bones; fractures; traumatic bleeding

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and decoct in water for washing.
