[Other names] Tuchangshan [Guangxi], dog shit wood, Chinese gray wood

[Source] It is a plant of the genus Symplocos of the family Symplocosaceae . Symplocos chinensis (Lour.) Druce, with its roots and leaves used as medicine. The roots can be harvested throughout the year; the leaves are collected in summer and autumn and dried separately for later use.

[Nature and flavor] Root: sweet, slightly bitter, cool.

【Function and indication】Root: Relieves exterior symptoms and reduces fever, detoxifies and relieves restlessness. Used for colds and fever, irritability and thirst, malaria, low back and leg pain, rabies bites, and poisonous snake bites. Leaves: Used externally to treat bleeding from trauma.

[Usage and Dosage] 3-5 qian of root; appropriate amount of leaves for external use, mash the fresh ones or grind the dried ones into powder and apply to the affected area.
