Leaves are opposite; petioles are 4-10cm long, densely pubescent; leaves are papery, blades are ovate, oblong-ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 2.5-8cm long, 1-5.5cm wide, with short pointed, acuminate or obtuse apex, rounded or nearly cordate base, entire margin, and pubescent on both sides and edges. Flowers in pairs, axillary, pedicels densely covered with short soft hairs and glandular hairs; peduncle usually solitary in the axils of the upper branches, equal to or slightly shorter than the petiole, those in the lower part are 2-4cm long, densely covered with short soft hairs and glandular hairs; bracts 2, leaf-shaped, broadly ovate or elliptic, about 3.5mm long, hairy or nearly hairless; bracteoles about 1mm long, covered with short hairs and glandular hairs; calyx short, calyx tube about 2mm long, hairless, 5-lobed, lobes ovate-triangular or long-triangular, pointed at the apex, densely hairy on the outside and margins; corolla lip-shaped, 3-5cm long, upper lip 4 shallowly lobed, corolla tube slender, covered with short hairs and glandular hairs on the outside, upper lip 4 lobes obtuse at the apex, lower lip ribbon-shaped and recurved, flowers white when first opened, turning golden yellow after 2-3 days; stamens 5, inserted near the inner tube opening of the corolla, extending out of the corolla; pistil 1, ovary inferior, style slender, extending out. The berries are spherical, 6-7mm in diameter, blue-black and shiny when ripe. The flowering period is from April to July, and the fruiting period is from June to November.
