Be careful of this "flower" when traveling during the holidays

When I went out for a trip, the local tour guide told me: There is a kind of snake that is common in this area, less than half a meter long and earthy yellow in color. If you are bitten by one, you will lose consciousness within seven steps and fall to the ground and die. This is commonly known as "falling down in seven steps"!

Seeing the tourists' horror, the tour guide said proudly that if you are bitten by a snake, remember to stay calm. There will be an antidote herb within seven steps. This herb has seven leaves growing in a circle with a flower in the middle. On the other hand, when people see this kind of grass, they must be on high alert because there are poisonous snakes within seven steps! …

Seeing the tour guide trying to be mysterious, I laughed secretly. In fact, he was talking about the Paris polyphylla, also known as the Paris polyphylla, the Paris polyphylla, and the Paris polyphylla. In the past, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners often used the name "Seven Leaf One Flower" on prescriptions to avoid pharmacies getting the wrong medicine.

Seven-leaf lily is not a formal medicine name, but it is more descriptive. Because the most notable feature of this plant is a circle of leaves, most of which are seven (there are also six, eight, or nine leaves), with a flower in the middle. So although it is not the official name, it is much more well-known than the official name.

Paris polyphylla is the rhizome of Paris polyphylla, or Paris polyphylla, a plant of the genus Paris polyphylla in the Liliaceae family. It is mainly produced in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hubei and other places. It has a very good effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and relieving pain, cooling the liver and calming the nerves.

It is often used to treat snake and insect bites, herpes zoster, skin eczema, insect bite dermatitis, skin itching, mumps, carbuncle, lymph tuberculosis, laryngeal paralysis, chronic tracheitis, convulsions in children, mastitis, malignant tumors, etc.

Because of its good curative effect, there are many folk proverbs about it: Seven-leafed One-branch Flower, the deep mountains are my home, it can treat boils for men and milk boils for women; if it is a boil or not, use Paris polyphylla detoxification soup; Seven-leafed One-branch Flower, all diseases can be cured; if there is Seven-leafed One-branch Flower in the house, poisonous snakes dare not enter my home. …

However, the effect that Paris polyphylla is most good at, that made it famous the earliest, and that was also the first to be discovered is the treatment of venomous snake bites. It is widely used by the people and is regarded as an important medicine for treating snake venom and carbuncles.

The "Newly Revised Materia Medica" of the Tang Dynasty recorded that rubbing Paris polyphylla with vinegar could be used to treat carbuncles, swellings and snake venom, which was very effective. "Compendium of Materia Medica" also said: The poison of snakes and insects can be cured by this treatment, so it is called flea-killer and sting-killer.

Although modern medicine has more effective antivenom for treating venomous snakes, the seven-leaf licorice has not only not been eliminated, but has been made into a medicine and is widely used in insect bite dermatitis, shingles, skin itching, mumps, etc., with good therapeutic effects.

From a pharmacological point of view, the active ingredients in the rhizomes of Seven-Leafed Aster have inhibitory effects on a variety of microorganisms, and have anti-inflammatory, sedative, analgesic, antitussive, antiasthmatic, and anti-tumor effects.

Here are some folk prescriptions about Chonglou:

1. Herpes zoster: Grind equal amounts of Herba Lycoris and Root of Cinnabar into powder, add a little realgar, mix with white wine and apply to the affected area.

2. To treat snake bites: add fresh roots to sweet wine, mash them and apply to the affected area.

3. Sprain: Mash the whole plant and apply it to the affected area, changing the dressing 2 to 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days.

4. Carbuncle: Take equal amounts of fresh rhizomes of Herba Polygoni Multiflori and Houttuynia cordata, mash them and apply them to the affected area once a day.

5. Neurodermatitis: Grind an appropriate amount into fine powder, mix with sesame oil, and apply to the affected area. For those with erosion and exudation, dry powder can be directly sprinkled. It can relieve itching and reduce skin lesions.

6. To treat throat congestion: rhizome of Seven-leaf Parsley 1g. Grind into powder and swallow.

7. Treat internal injuries from falls, relieve pain and dissipate blood stasis: Wash the Seven-Leaf Flower, soak it in wine for 50 days, dry it in the sun and grind it into powder. Take 1.5g daily with wine or water.

8. Mumps: Grind vinegar and apply it externally, 4-5 times a day. Also, use 2-3 coins of decoction in water and take it 3 times a day.

Precautions for use: Use under the guidance of a physician. Seven-leaf gentian is poisonous, and the toxin is mainly contained in the bark of the underground stem. Mainly for external use, one dose for internal use should not exceed 9g. It is contraindicated for patients with vomiting and epistaxis, weak vital energy, external ulcers due to Yin syndrome, pregnant women, and those without actual fire, heat or toxicity.
