[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole plant of Araceae.

[Original form] Large-leafed southern sedge, an epiphytic vine. The stem is 8-12mm thick, light green, with internodes 2-5cm long, and fleshy aerial roots attached to stone walls or bark. Branches often short and numerous. Petiole 10-20cm, grooved ventrally, rounded on the back, light green, upper joint 8-12mm long, sheath base enlarged; leaf blade sub-leathery, oblong, elliptic-oblong, rarely ovate-oblong, entire, 8-25cm long, 4-11cm wide, acuminate or acute at apex, rounded base; midrib raised on the back, lateral veins numerous, dense, obliquely extending and then arcing upward, veinlet reticular. Inflorescence terminal, sturdy pedicel, 8-10cm long, erect, apex curved downward, base with 6-7cm long broad linear membranous bracts, caducous early; spathe elliptic-oblong or oblong, 7-9cm long, with a beak about 1cm long at the tip, dirty yellow outside, dirty yellow with red inside; spadix sessile, cylindrical, 5.5-8cm long, more than 4/5 of the total length of the spathe, 1-1.2cm thick, pale or dirty yellow, rarely bluish purple; stamens shorter than pistils, filaments wide, slightly narrow at both ends, anthers elliptic, obtuse, slightly exposed; ovary angular columnar, 2mm long and wide, quadrilateral or hexagonal at the apex, stigma small, oblong, slightly convex. Flowering period is September-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: epiphytic on tree trunks or stone cliffs in evergreen broad-leaved forests in valleys and temple forests on hillsides at an altitude of 1800-2800m.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; slightly sweet; cool in nature

[Functions and indications] Disperses blood stasis and relieves pain; relaxes muscles and tendons; moistens the lungs and relieves cough. Mainly used for angina pectoris, swelling and pain caused by falls, fractures, rheumatic pain, limb numbness, bronchitis, whooping cough

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 6-15g; or grind into powder, 3g each time; or soak in wine. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
