[Other names] Chrysanthemum, wild chrysanthemum with stems, field chrysanthemum

[Source] Medicinal material source: the tender stems and leaves of Chrysanthemum officinale, a plant of the Asteraceae family.

[Original form] Chrysanthemum brain is a perennial herb, 30-90cm tall, with a smell. The stem is erect, branched, nearly smooth or slightly hairy on the upper part. Leaves are alternate; petioles have narrow wings; leaf blades are ovate or oblong-ovate, 2-6cm long, 1-2.5cm wide, with short pointed tips, base with coarse compound teeth or deep pinnate fissures, green above, smooth or nearly glabrous, light green below, with sparse fine hairs on veins. The head inflorescence is 1-1.5cm in diameter, growing at the end of branches, with a stalk 5-10mm long and integrated into a cone; the involucre is hemispherical; the bracts are smooth, thin, transparent, green only in the middle, the outer bracts are about half as short as the inner ones, narrowly elliptic, the inner bracts are ovate or obovate, with blunt tips; the ligulate flowers are yellow, oblong-lanceolate, about 5mm long and 1mm wide, and the tubular flowers are about 3mm long. Flowering period is October-November.

【Habitat distribution】 Distributed in Jiangsu and Shanghai. It is cultivated in Nanjing area.
