【Original form】 Evergreen tree, 5-15m high. The bark is gray-brown; the twigs and buds are densely covered with felt hairs, and the lenticels are dense and obvious. Simple leaves are alternate, clustered at the upper part of the branches, leathery, cuneate-obovate to oblanceolate-obovate, 5-18cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, obtuse at apex, cuneate at base, entire or occasionally with a few crenates or serrations above the middle, with very sparse golden glands on the underside of the leaves. Spike panicles are axillary; male inflorescences are 6-8cm long, with dense bracts arranged in a shingle-like manner, with a male flower in the axil of each bract and 3-7 stamens; female inflorescences are spike-like because of their extremely shortened branches, with only 1-4 fertile bracts, 2-3.5cm long, with a female flower in the axil of each bract, and the ovary has two slender bright red style branches. The drupe is oval, slightly flattened, red when ripe, with nipple-like protrusions on the outside, and a fleshy exocarp with lots of juice and resin. The flowering period is September-October, and the fruit ripening period is March-April of the following year.
