[Alias] Ziziphus jujuba (Selected Chinese Herbal Medicines in Yunnan).

[Source] It is the bark of the jujube tree of the Rhamnaceae family. Autumn collection. Remove the skin and dry it in the sun.

[Original form] Burmese jujube, also known as Yunnan jujube.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in sparse woods on forest edges, roadsides and hillsides. Distributed in Yunnan.

[Chemical composition] The bark contains polypeptide bioalkaloids: aralia alkaloid A, aralia alkaloid B, amphiboline D, and rhamnine.

[Pharmacological action] The decoction of leaves and stems has a significant excitatory effect on the isolated rat uterus; it can dilate blood vessels in the rat hind limb perfusion test; and intravenous injection in anesthetized dogs can lower blood pressure. It had no significant effect on the isolated guinea pig ileum and toad rectus abdominis muscle. Two mice were intraperitoneally injected with 1 gram of the above decoction, and both mice died within 24 hours.
