[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb or root of the Papaveraceae plant.

[Original form] Corydalis macrophylla is a perennial herb, 30-60cm tall, glabrous. There is no taproot, but the fibrous roots are well developed and the rhizome is thick and covered with numerous basal leaf stumps. Stem erect or oblique, 2-3-lined, 5-ribbed, unbranched or branched. There are several basal leaves, 10-30cm long, with petiole length accounting for 3/5 of the total length of the leaf, and the base is flattened into a sheath; the leaf blade is ovate-triangular in outline, twice-tripleted, the final lobe is ovate, with crenate margins and short petioles; there are 2-4 stem leaves, which are the same shape as the basal leaves but shorter. The raceme is terminal, 3-7cm long; there are about 10 flowers sparsely arranged, the bracts are ovate to obovate, with round teeth on the upper edge; the pedicels are slightly longer than or equal to the bracts; the sepals are scaly and fall off early; the corolla is purple-blue, 25-30mm long, and its cockscomb is often low and short, with a narrow conical spur, slightly shorter than 1/2 of the total length of the outer upper petal, and the outer lower petal is spoon-shaped and clawed; the ovary is linear, 10-12mm long, and the stigma has 10 papillae. The capsule is obliquely upward, slender and cylindrical, 4-5cm long, 1.5-2mm in diameter, and nearly bead-shaped. There are more than 10 seeds. The flowering period is April and the fruiting period is May.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in ditches under mountain forests at an altitude of 1000-2800m.

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and relieve pain; clear away heat and detoxify. Mainly used for fatigue, chest and epigastric pain, sitz sores

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 5-10g; or soak the roots in wine. For external use: take appropriate amount, mash the juice and apply to the affected area.
