[Source] Medicinal material source: It is the root of Euonymus cornutus Hemsl., a plant of the Celastraceae family.

[Original form] Euonymus hornularis is a semi-evergreen shrub, 1-2m tall. Branchlets cylindrical; winter buds conical, about 5mm long. Leaves are alternate; petiole is about 6mm long; leaves are nearly leathery, linear-lanceolate, 7-15cm long, 1.3-2cm wide, with long and gradually pointed tip, cuneate base, finely serrated edges, and veins slightly raised and obvious on both sides. The cymes usually have 3 flowers, with slender peduncles 2-4 cm long; the flowers are purple-red, about 7 mm in diameter, with 4-5 bases; the petals are oval with nearly entire margins; the stamens have no filaments, and the anthers have 1 chamber; the disk is flat and thick. The capsule is oblate, about 1 cm in diameter (excluding wing length), purple-red when ripe, with 4-5 narrow long wings, 8-10 mm long, and about 5 mm wide at the base. The flowering period is May, and the fruiting period is September-October.
