Traditional Chinese medicine has a history of thousands of years. It has appeared at a very early time, and it has very satisfactory effects on the treatment of diseases. There are many types of traditional Chinese medicine. Do you know the medicinal material Huoxuelian?

[Alias] Moqi, Tushalian (Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 10: 692, 1965).

[Source] It is the root of Aconitum truncatum, a plant of the Ranunculaceae family. Harvested in summer and autumn.

[Original form] Perennial herb. The roots are tuberous, slightly inclined, dark brown, and have many fibrous roots. There are 1 to 3 basal leaves, with petioles 12 to 16 cm long, smooth and hairless, slightly purple-red, and expanded at the base: the leaf blade is nearly circular, 5 to 7 palmately divided, the base of the lobes is cuneate, the tip has unequal notches, and the top of the round teeth has small convex tips; dark green with sparse yellow above, grayish white below, with sparse yellow hairs on the veins; 3 to 5 stem leaves. Inflorescence raceme, with many flowers; sepals 5, purple, upper sepal cylindrical; petals 2; stamens many; carpels 3. Follicles 3, unequal in size.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in the jungles on the shady sides of mountains. Distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei, Shaanxi and other places.

[Properties and flavors] Guizhou Folk Medicine: "Warm in nature, pungent in taste, slightly toxic."

【Functions and indications】 Treat cough and asthma, irregular menstruation, and bruises.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3 to 5 qian; or soaked in wine. For external use: apply by grinding.

[Additional prescription] ① To treat irregular menstruation: 3 grams each of Huoxue Lian and Ganxue Wang. Take with wine soak. (Guizhou Folk Medicine)
