[Original form] 1. Salmon-spotted grouper, the body is long and oval, flattened laterally, and generally 12-24cm long. The head is slightly long, with medium-sized eyes, located on the upper side and close to the front end. Mouth medium size, slightly slanted. The teeth on both jaws are thin and pointed, arranged in irregular lines, and each has a pair of small conical teeth at the front end. The vomer and palatine teeth are small and form a narrow tooth band. Margin of preoperculum finely serrated. The operculum has 2-3 flat spines and 9+14 gill rakers. The body is covered with fine ctenoid scales, and the lateral line is parallel to the back of the body. Lateral line scales (with holes): 49 (15/29). Dorsal fin Ⅺ-16, starting point above the pectoral fin, continuous, without notch. Anal fin III-8, opposite to dorsal fin rays. Pectoral fins 16, relatively large, with rounded edges. Pelvic fins I-5, located on the chest, caudal fin rounded. The body is light brown with small orange spots on the head and sides of the body. Each fin is covered with small orange-red spots. The edge of the dorsal fin is yellow; there is a brown spot at the end of the fin spine, the base of the middle fin ray and on the caudal peduncle. The pectoral fins are reddish brown, the anal and caudal fins are dark brown, and the edges are darker.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: warm water nearshore middle and lower layer fish. It often lives in sea areas with rocky reef bottoms and likes to eat fish and shrimps. The yield is higher in summer. The meat is delicious.
