It is used for stabbing pain in the chest and flanks, chest obstruction and heart pain, amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea, breast pain, coma due to febrile disease, epilepsy, vomiting and bleeding due to blood heat, jaundice and red urine. Curcuma, also known as hairy turmeric. Perennial herb. The roots are thick and swell at the end to form an oval tuber. The tuber is oval, lateral, the rhizome is cylindrical, and the cross section is yellow. Leaves are basal: petiole about 5 cm long, petiole at base short or nearly sessile, with auricles; leaf blade oblong, 15-37 cm long, 7-10 cm wide, with pointed tip and rounded or triangular base. The inflorescence is spike-shaped, about 13 cm long; the peduncle is 7 to 15 cm long; with sheath-like leaves, broad ovate bracts at the base, several florets growing inside the bracts, narrower bracts at the top, and no flowers in the axils; the calyx is white and tubular, with three irregular lobes; the corolla tube is funnel-shaped, with three lobes, pink and white, the upper one is larger, and the lobes on both sides are oblong; the lateral reduced stamens are oblong, the connectives are spur-shaped, and the filaments are flat and broad; the ovary is pubescent, the style is filiform, smooth or sparsely hairy, with two rod-shaped appendages at the base, and the stigma is slightly 2-lipped and ciliate.
