The efficacy and function of local tea

[Alias] Kuding tea, tea lid.

[Source] Medicinal material source: The young leaves of the plant Garcinia oxyphylla of the family Garciniaaceae.

[Original form] Redbud tree, 5-12m high. The base of the trunk is thorny and the young branches are densely pubescent. Simple leaves are opposite; petiole is 3-5mm long; leaf blade is thin leathery or papery, elliptical or oblong, 5-11cm long, 2-3.5cm wide, with short acuminate or obtuse apex, broad cuneate or nearly circular base, entire margin, densely pubescent beneath. Flowers: 4-6 in clusters on short branches, solitary, axillary; peduncle about 15mm long, densely pubescent; flowers pink, 1.5cm in diameter; pedicel 2-3mm long, densely pubescent; sepals 5, densely pubescent on the outside; petals 5, with inconspicuous scales at the base; stamens numerous, in 3 bundles, filaments long, free, equal in length to the stamen fascicle, each with 20-30 anthers, connective without glands, fused at the base; inferior fleshy glands tongue-shaped; ovary superior, 3-chambered, styles 3, diverging from the base, nearly equal in length to the ovary. The capsule is oval, dark brown, glabrous, 8-12 mm long, and has a persistent calyx. There are 6-8 seeds in each locule, with a narrow claw-shaped base, asymmetrical, and winged on one side. The flowering period is June-July, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse forests in mountains.

[Chemical composition] The leaves contain quercetin, hype-roside, 1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxy-xanthone, mangiferin, isomangiferin and epicatechin.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet; light; slightly bitter; cool

【Meridian】 Stomach; Large Intestine

【Functions and indications】Relieves summer heat and clears away heat; transforms dampness and eliminates stagnation. Mainly used for colds; heatstroke and fever; jaundice; acute gastroenteritis; amoebic dysentery; boils

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-10g.
