【Original form】 Vine-like shrub. The twigs are nearly square, gray-brown, densely covered with rusty hairs and orange-yellow scales, which fall off when old. The leaves are nearly opposite, thinly leathery, oblong, with raised veins on the underside and densely covered with short soft hairs. The inflorescence spikes are axillary; the flowers are small, white, with coarse golden hairs in the center. The fruit is nearly round or pear-shaped, with 4 wings, papery, with horizontal stripes, shiny, and red when ripe. Flowering period is early summer.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in bushes at the foot of the mountain or in bamboo forests near villages. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Jiangxi and Hunan.

[Nature and flavor] Sweet, lightly bitter, neutral in nature.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 3 to 5 qian.
