[Other names] Jinsuotian (Leigong Paozhi Lun), Huicheno, Shuiluocheno (Jiuhuang Bencao), Huitiao (Yecai Pu), Huidicai (Compendium of Materia Medica), Huicapsule, Huimaranth (Yilin Zuanyao), Huimaranth (Caomu Bianfang), Huihuicai (Sichuan Chinese Materia Medica).

[Source] It is the whole herb of Chenopodiaceae . Harvested from March to April, used fresh or sun-dried.

[Original form] Annual herb, 20 to 450 cm tall. The stem is erect, branched, angular and striated. Leaves are alternate; the lower leaf blade is 3-lobed, the 2 lobes near the base are short, elliptical or triangular, and each lobe usually has a small tooth below; the middle leaf blade is elliptical, with wavy teeth on the edge, obtuse at the apex, and cuneate at the base; the upper leaf blade is gradually smaller, narrow, with shallow teeth or nearly entire; the leaf blades are slightly covered with powder on both sides; the petiole is slender and weak. Inflorescence axillary or terminal, flower clusters fine and sparse, covered with powdery grains; 5 tepals, light green, white edges, without ridges on the back, curved inwards; 5 stamens, extending outside the tepals; 2 stigmas, linear. The entire fruit is enclosed in the perianth. The seeds are oblate and black. The fruit ripens from June to July.

【Habitat distribution】Grows wild in wasteland or fields. It is distributed in most parts of our country.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet, bitter, cool.

【Functions and indications】Dehumidifying and detoxifying. Treat sores, swelling, scabies, eczema and itching.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 2 liang. For external use: decoct in water for washing or mash for application.

[Additional prescription] For the treatment of purpura: ash (any amount, burn it into ashes, use paper to drain the juice, refine it into a paste, about two spoons), realgar, cinnabar, greasy powder, musk, toad ash, sulfur, alum and lime, each one qian. Take the above eight ingredients, grind seven of them into powder, mix with the refined ash juice and boil it into a paste and apply it on the affected area. It will become loose when it dries, and if the paste becomes hard, moisten it with vinegar. (The recipe for applying ash and mulberry in Shengji Zonglu)
