[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of the plant Pteris cretica of the family Drynariae.

【Original morphology】Plant height 45-70cm. The rhizome is long and horizontal, densely covered with light brown, ovate-lanceolate scales and light rusty long hairs. Leaves are distal; petiole 20-35cm long, straw-colored, shiny, glabrous; leaf blade oblong-ovate, 25-35cm long, about 17-25cm wide at base or slightly larger, apex acuminate, tripinnate; pinnae 10-20 pairs, base asymmetric, cuneate, obliquely upward, oblong, petiole 5-15mm long, base one pair is the largest, 12-20cm long, 6-10cm wide, with a shallowly lobed sharp tail at the apex, and the upper pinnae gradually shortened; one pinnules are about 10 pairs, obliquely ovate to oblong, obliquely upward, acuminate, the largest one on the lower side of the base, 5-7cm long; terminal pinnules 5-6 pairs, nearly rhomboid-ovate, apex rounded and obtusely toothed, base obliquely cuneate, upper margin shallowly lobed; lobes 2-3, margins serrated; veins multiply forked, each obtuse tooth with 1 veinlet, with a rod-shaped water sac at the apex. The sori are large, with 1-2 on the first terminal pinnules, born at the tips of the veinlets; the sori cover is large, oblate to reniform, gray, entire, attached at the base, and persistent.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under mixed forests or in bushes in mountains at an altitude of 1800-2800m.

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and dissipate blood stasis. Mainly used for traumatic injury; low back pain

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 9-15g; or soak in wine. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash fresh product for application.
