[Source] Medicinal material source: the peel of cucumber, a plant of the Cucurbitaceae family.

[Original form] Annual climbing herb. The stems and branches are elongated, with longitudinal grooves and ridges, and covered with white, hard, rough hairs. Tendrils thin, unbranched, with white pubescence. Simple leaves are alternate; petioles are slightly rough; leaf blades are triangular-broadly ovate, membranous, 12-18cm long and wide, very rough on both sides, palmately 3-5-lobed, lobes are triangular and serrated, and sometimes have ciliate edges. The calyx is simply narrowly bell-shaped and cylindrical, densely covered with white long soft hairs. The calyx fissure is awl-shaped and spreads out to be nearly as long as the calyx. The pedicel is white, about 2 cm long, and the corolla lobes are oblong-lanceolate and acute. There are 3 stamens and almost no filaments. The female flowers are solitary or sparsely clustered, with a sturdy pedicel covered with soft hairs. Ovary fusiform, stigmas 3. The fruit is oblong or cylindrical, 10-30 (-50) cm long, yellow-green when ripe, with a rough surface, with thorny tubercles, and rarely almost smooth. Seeds small, narrowly ovate, white, without margin. The flowering and fruiting season is summer and autumn.

The outer surface is yellowish brown with dark brown wart-like protrusions and yellowish-white or yellow reticular patterns; the inner surface is yellowish-white with wrinkles.
