[Source] Medicinal material source: the pseudobulb and whole herb of the orchid plant Orchidaceae.

[Original form] Soft-haired shrimp orchid, a terrestrial plant. The stem is short. The leaves are nearly basal, 4-5 in number; the leaf blade is elliptical, about 20cm long, 4-7cm wide, with a sharp tip and a short petiole at the base. The peduncle grows out of the leaf cluster and rises above the leaves; the raceme is 8-15cm long, with many flowers sparsely borne; the bracts are narrowly lanceolate, about as long as the pedicels (including the ovary), with a long and acuminate tip; the sepals and petals are both reflexed backwards, about 1.4cm long; the sepals are obliquely ovate-lanceolate, about 6mm wide, and acuminate at the tip; the petals are lavender, narrowly lanceolate, about 1mm wide, and acuminate at the tip; the lip is flat, larger than the petals and sepals, and 3-lobed. The middle lobe is elliptical, narrower than the lateral lobes, acuminate or acute at the tip, and the edges are erode-like. The lateral lobes are sickle-shaped, inward-curved, close to the middle lobe, and obtuse at the tip; there is no spur.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows under forests or on grass slopes.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; sweet; neutral

【Functions and indications】Moistens the lungs and relieves cough; promotes blood circulation and resolves stagnation; reduces swelling and detoxifies. Mainly used for acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis cough, scrofula, traumatic injury, hemorrhoids, and snake bites

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-9g; or soaked in wine. For external use: take appropriate amount, mash and apply; or grind into powder and apply; or grind into vinegar and apply.
