[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of Pteris schrenkiana of the Pteris family.

【Original morphology】Plant height 30-60cm. The rhizome is erect, thick or cylindrical. Leaves are clustered and dimorphic; the nutrient petiole is 18-35cm long, triangular at the base, with 1-2 pairs of tubercle-like air sacs on both sides of the back; the leaf blade is elliptical, 20-35cm long, 12-16cm wide, pinnate above the middle, with 10-12 pairs of lateral pinnae, nearly opposite or alternate, nearly sessile; the pinnae are papery, narrowly elliptical, with nearly entire margins and coarse teeth near the top, the middle pinnae are larger, 5-9cm long, 1.2-1.5cm wide, the terminal pinnae are lanceolate, and the base is often fused with 1-2 lateral pinnae on the upper part; the leaf veins are pinnate; the lateral veins are simple or dichotomous. The petiole of the sporophyll is 20-30cm long; the leaves are odd-pinnate, 25-30cm long; the pinnae are 8-13 pairs, strongly contracted and linear, 5-10cm long. The sporangium clusters are grown at the tops of bifurcated veinlets and are covered by the recurved leaf margins when young.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on the edge of mountain evergreen broad-leaved forest or in valleys at an altitude of 1450m.
