[Source] It is the tuber or the whole plant of the Arisaema species. Collected in autumn and winter. Slice and dry.

[Original form] Annual perennial herb, 30 to 40 cm tall. There are long branches with roots and small tubers; the tubers are oblate and have red outer skin. The single leaf is shield-shaped, dark green with a slight red tint, 15 to 20 cm long, 12 to 16 cm wide, and entire. The spadix grows from the tuber, and there are usually several erect spadixes on each tuber, which are 15 to 20 cm long and dark red in color; the male and female inflorescences are separated by neutral flowers; the spathe is leathery, with a spiral tube that encloses the fruit; the male inflorescence is rod-shaped; the female inflorescence is short and cylindrical. The berries are small.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in moist places under forests. Distributed in Yunnan and other places.

【Functions and indications】Reduce swelling, kill insects, provide anesthesia and relieve pain. Treat acute mastitis, bruises, carbuncles, furunculosis, tinea and scabies.
