[Source] Medicinal material source: The fruiting body of the Polyporaceae fungus Pseudomonas piniformis.

[Original morphology] The fruiting body of the pine fasciata is perennial and woody. The cap is semicircular, fan-shaped or horseshoe-shaped, lateral, (4-30) cm × (6-40) cm, 2.5-20 cm thick, with a layer of orange-red gelatinous crust on the cap surface at the beginning, which gradually hardens and changes color to gray, dirty gray, dark brown to black, with obvious ring edges; the cap margin is blunt, thin or thick, and the newly grown cap margin is nearly white, gradually changing to gray-yellow, red to reddish brown. The tube mouth is white or milky white, and turns yellow or beige after drying; the tube mouth is small and round, with 3-5 per 1mm, and the tube wall is thick; the bacterial tube has multiple layers, each layer is 3-5mm thick, and the fresh bacterial tube layer can be peeled off from the upper layer. The flesh is corky to woody, nearly white, light brown after drying, and has ring marks. There are small cysts, colorless, and thin-walled. Spores are ovate to elliptical, smooth, colorless, (5.5-7.5) μm × (3.5-4) μm.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on rotten wood of coniferous trees such as pine and fir at an altitude of 2600-3800m, and occasionally grows on broad-leaved trees.

【Properties】 The fruiting body is sessile. The cap is flat, hemispherical or horseshoe-shaped, with a long diameter of 7-35cm, a short diameter of 5-24cm, and a thickness of 3-8cm. The surface is gray or black, and some have a red gelatinous skin with wide concentric ring ridges and edges that are chestnut, yellow or off-white. The surface of the tube mouth is light yellow or rusty brown, the tube mouth is round, and there are 3-5 per 1mm. Multiple layers of bacterial tubes can be seen in the longitudinal section, with each layer being 3-7 mm thick. Woody or corky. Slight odor, light taste.

【Chemical composition】 Contains linoleic acid as the main component and palmitic acid, oleic acid, 2-hydroxy acids of 22-26 carbon atoms, 2,3-dihydroxy acids and other long-chain fatty acids, phytosphingosine, β-D-glucan, α-glucan, hemicellulose, α-β- and γ-cellulose and pectin.
