[Original form] Cone is an upright subshrub, 1-3m high. The branches have fine longitudinal ridges and are hairy as are the petioles and peduncle. The leaves are thin papery, ovate, broadly ovate or elliptic at the branch ends, 10-15cm long, 6-10cm wide, mucronate at the apex, cordate at the base, unequal on both sides, glabrous above, with micro-hard hairs and fine glandular dots along the veins below, 9 veins, the uppermost pair alternate, 1.2-3cm from the base emanating from the midrib, the rest are basal; petiole 8-14mm long, sheathed only at the base. Flowers are unisexual, dioecious, and gathered into spikes opposite leaves; male inflorescences are 4-6 cm long, with short soft hairs on the inflorescence axis, round, shield-shaped bracts, about 1.1 mm in diameter, with a short stalk in the center, 3 stamens, anthers ovate, 2-lobed, thick filaments much shorter than anthers; female inflorescences are 4-8 cm long in fruiting period, with smaller bracts, 0.8-1 mm in diameter, ovary base embedded in the inflorescence axis, 3 stigmas, caducous early. The berry is spherical, red when ripe, about 2 mm in diameter, with the base embedded in the inflorescence axis and fused with it, and with many warty protrusions on the surface. Flowering period is from April to June.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in forests or moist lands at an altitude of 1100-2000m.

【Properties】 Identification of properties: The stem is cylindrical, with a diameter of about 1 cm; the surface has fine longitudinal ridges, sparse hairs, and the nodes are obviously enlarged. The leaves are mostly wrinkled, and when flattened they are oval or elliptical, 9-15cm long and 5-10cm wide. The base is often oblique and has dense small glandular dots. The veins on the back are hairy. There are 9 veins, and the uppermost pair radiates from the midrib, with obvious reticulate veins. The leaves have short petioles and sheath-like bases, and sometimes spike inflorescences opposite the leaves can be seen. Fragrant smell, spicy taste.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; warm

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and cold; promote qi and blood circulation; disperse blood stasis and relieve pain. Mainly used for colds, rheumatic bone pain, stomachache, dysmenorrhea, and traumatic injuries

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g. For external use: Take appropriate amount of fresh product and mash it for application.
