[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of the Polypodiaceae plant Pteris palmatum.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 30-50cm. The rhizome is long and horizontal, densely covered with dark brown shiny lanceolate scales, with long acuminate head, shield-shaped base, sparsely dentate margins, and leaves distally borne and nearly dimorphic; the nutrient leaves are the same shape as the sporophylls, but the petioles are shorter and winged, and the lobes are wider; the petioles of the nutrient leaves are 20-30cm long, cylindrical, light straw color, with joints at the base and scales; the leaf blades are usually deeply palmately lobed, sometimes 2-3 lobed or simple, 10-18cm long and wide, truncated or more or less decurrent at the base; the lobes are lanceolate, acuminate at the apex, slightly narrowed at the base, 10-16cm long, 1.5-3cm wide, with shallowly wavy margins; the lateral veins are obliquely upward, with 2 rows of elongated meshes between each pair of lateral veins, and occasionally a single hooked internal veinlet. The sori are linear, slanting out along the lateral veins, with one between each lateral vein; there is no sori cover.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under forests at an altitude of 100-1700m or in wet places beside valley streams or on rocks.

【Nature and flavor】 Slightly bitter; cool

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and dissipate blood stasis; detoxify and relieve pain; promote diuresis and relieve stranguria. Mainly used for traumatic injuries; rheumatic pain; snake bites; hot stranguria; stone stranguria

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-30g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
