[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Artemisia scabra, a plant of the Commelinaceae family.

[Original form] Artemisia scabra, perennial herb. Height 20-50cm. The roots have many fibrous roots. The stems are often tufted, rarely solitary, with very long internodes, glabrous or covered with short soft hairs. Basal leaves are clustered, 12-35cm long and 5-12cm wide; stem leaves are smaller, growing in the middle of the stem, with linear-lanceolate leaves, 3-7cm long and about 7mm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, and sheath-like at the base, with the sheath 1.5-2cm long and covered with long eyelashes. The cymes are arranged in terminal panicles; the involucral bracts are linear to lanceolate, and mostly fall off during fruiting; the bracts fall off early; the pedicels are thin and straight, about 4mm long; the sepals are 3, shallowly boat-shaped, oblong, about 3mm long; the petals are 3, the lower part of the filaments is hairy or nearly hairless; the ovary is 3-chambered, oblong, and the style is linear, about 4mm long. The capsule is ovate-triangular, about 4 mm long, with 2 seeds in each chamber. The seeds have white patches arranged almost radially. The flowering period is from April to July, and the fruiting period is from August to November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse woodland, grassland and under forest at an altitude of 200-2000m.
