【English name】 Strigose Microlepia

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the Pteridaceae plant.

【Original form】 The plant is over 1m tall. The rhizome is horizontal, thick, and densely covered with brown node-like bristles. Leaves are distal; petiole 40-60cm long, straw color or green-brown, with brown nodular hairs at base; rachis and rachis ventral side slightly hairy, dorsal side densely covered with short brown hairs; leaf blade thick papery, oblong, 40-60cm long, 15-30cm wide, twice pinnate-lobed; pinnae 14-20 pairs, alternate, petiolate, linear-lanceolate, base obliquely cuneate, apex long pointed or long acuminate, pinnate, lower ones larger, 14-20cm long, 2-3.5cm wide; twice pinnae 14-25 pairs, alternate, obliquely ovate or nearly rhombus-shaped, with notches or coarse blunt teeth on upper side of margin, 1.5-2cm long, 6-10mm wide, hairy on dorsal veins; leaf veins pinnate. The sori are grown at the tips of the veinlets. The sori lid is cup-shaped, yellow-green, and hairy, attached to the leaf margin at the base and on both sides.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on limestone under the forest at an altitude of 1700m.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The rhizome is cylindrical, about 4mm in diameter, and the surface is densely covered with gray-brown long needle-like hairs. The petiole is up to 50cm long, brown-brown, with rough scars; the leaf blade is oblong, up to 60cm long, 15-28cm wide, two to three times pinnate-lobed, thick papery, green or brown-brown; the rachis, pinnae and veins have short stiff hairs, the pinnae are linear-lanceolate, petiolate, the pinnules are 1.4-2cm long, with shallow lobes or coarsely serrated edges; the sori are borne at the tip of the veinlets, with 8-9 pinnules per piece, the sori cover is semi-cup-shaped, with short brown hairs. It has a faint smell and a slightly bitter taste.

[Chemical composition] The above-ground part contains (3R)-pterosin [(3R)-pterosin] D, (2R,3R)-pterosin [(2R,3R)-pterosin] L, 2R-pterosin (2R-pterosin) B, 2R-pterosin O, 2R-pterosin F, 2S-pterosin (2S-pterosin) P, 2S,3S-pterosin [(2S,3S)-pterosin] C, 2S,3S-pterosin CO-3-β-D-pyranoglucoside (2S,3S-pterosin CO-3-β-D-glucopyranoside), and ptaquiloside.
