The role of mulberry leaves

The role of mulberry leaves

Mulberries, which grow on mulberry trees, are a very common fruit. In addition to mulberries, mulberry trees have many other economic values. For example, mulberry leaves are an important food for silkworms. In fact, the functions of mulberry leaves are not limited to these, there are many other benefits that we don’t know about. Studies have found that mulberry leaves have certain cosmetic effects and can relieve skin spots and acne.

Dried mulberry leaves contain 25-45% crude protein, 20-25% carbohydrates, 5% crude fat, as well as rich potassium, calcium and vitamins C, B1, B2, A, etc., as well as various trace elements such as copper, zinc, boron, manganese and other substances. Mulberry leaves contain ecdysterone, lupenone, as well as many amino acids, vitamins, cyanogenic acid, folic acid, fumaric acid, meso-creatine, phytoestrogens and other substances required by the human body. They have the effects of anti-stress, anti-aging, enhancing body endurance, and regulating adrenaline function.

Studies have shown that mulberry leaves have good skin beauty effects, especially for acne and brown spots on the face.

Leaf treatment for facial acne

Acne, commonly known as pimples, is an inflammatory skin disease common in young people. After young men and women enter puberty, the level of sex hormones in their bodies increases, which causes the sebaceous glands to proliferate and hypertrophy. The sebaceous glands secrete more, leading to sebum accumulation, which blocks the openings of hair follicles. The increased sebum cannot be discharged in time, resulting in acne. The occurrence of acne is mainly due to endocrine changes during puberty, which leads to a relative increase in the secretion of male hormones compared to female hormones. However, high-fat, high-sugar diet and long-term constipation are important causes of acne.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that overeating greasy and spicy food will cause heat accumulation in the spleen and stomach and dampness, and external pathogens invading the skin will cause acne. Because mulberry leaves have the effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying, some people tried to use mulberry leaf decoction to treat 258 cases of acne, and the effectiveness reached more than 89%. The specific method is to take 50 grams of fresh mulberry leaves every day, decoct them in water and take them three times. It usually takes 15 days to take effect. Some people use an appropriate amount of fresh mulberry leaves, mash them, and apply them to the acne for 30 minutes a day, and have achieved satisfactory results.
