[Original form] Achyranthes bidentata is a perennial creeping herb. The stem is up to 30 cm long, slightly pubescent, and has roots at the nodes. Leaves are opposite; petiole 1-5cm long, covered with widely spreading short soft hairs; stipules 1-2mm long, broadly ovate; leaves are reniform or nearly round, 1-2(-3)cm in diameter, rounded at the apex, cordate at the base, nearly glabrous on both sides, with 5-7 palmate veins, membranous. Flowers are solitary or arranged in umbels of 2-3; peduncle is 1-4cm long, glabrous or pubescent; bracts are about 3mm long; calyx is nearly obovate, calyx tube is about 2-3mm long, 4-lobed at the top, lobes are 2-2.5mm long, linear-lanceolate; flowers are white, corolla tube is narrow, about 8mm long, 4-lobed at the top, lobes are lanceolate, about 3mm long, spreading outward; filaments are short, anthers are hidden; stigma is 2 shallowly lobed. The drupe is nearly spherical, 4-6mm in diameter, smooth, red when ripe, with persistent calyx; the drupe is small, flat-convex, with a smooth abdomen and transverse wrinkles and rib-like protrusions on the back. Flowering period is July-August.
