[Source] It is the whole herb of the cruciferous plant Brassica juncea . The whole herb is harvested in July and August, cut into sections, and dried for later use.

[Original form] Biennial or perennial herb, 15 to 90 cm high. The stem is slightly oblique, glabrous or slightly hairy, and branched. Most of the basal leaves are clustered, deeply pinnate, up to 12 cm long, with the terminal lobe larger and ovate, and the lateral lobes smaller, 5 to 8 pairs, with blunt teeth on the margins, and only sparse short hairs on the petiole and midrib, and glabrous on other parts; stem leaves are alternate, undivided, and lanceolate. The racemes are terminal or axillary, with small, cross-shaped, yellow flowers; sepals are oblong; petals are comb-shaped; there are 4 strong stamens; 1 pistil; and pedicels are 2 to 3 mm long. The silique is cylindrical and oblong, 4 to 6 mm long, about 2 mm wide, and slightly curved; the fruit pedicel is 2 to 6 mm long. The seeds are small, oval, slightly flat, 0.5 mm long, reddish-yellow, and have small dots.

[Habitat distribution] It grows on hillsides, rock crevices, roadsides, field edges, wet areas in ditches and in weeds. Distributed in Jiangsu, Shandong, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and other places.
